Just a brief post to bring these novel on-line advent calendars to your attention (Good for schools in the Advent run-up to Christmas):
Different kind of Advent Calendar | |
To help you
celebrate the countdown to Christmas, the University of Cambridge's
Millennium Mathematics Project has created three online Advent calendars
each hiding a marvellous array of mathematical goodies behind their
doors!
The Plus Advent calendar
(http://plus.maths.org/content/2011-plus-advent-calendar)
presents an assortment of intriguing articles, podcasts and interviews
from the archives of Plus, our online popular mathematics magazine. This
is aimed at a general audience with an interest in maths.
Our NRICH website
publishes rich mathematical tasks, investigations and games for all ages
from Early Years right through to KS5 and university transition, with
the emphasis on developing problem-solving skills. The NRICH online
Advent calendars present a selection of favourite problems and games,
and this year we have two versions - one Advent calendar for primary
students (http://nrich.maths.org/7778) and one for secondary students (http://nrich.maths.org/7792) too.
