Genome Generation: get your students debating ethical issues
Have you ever wondered how the latest genetics and genomics
research will have an impact on health and society? Do you want to encourage
your students to develop the skills to confidently discuss contemporary science
in the classroom?
Genome Generation is a new card-based discussion activity
that helps your students debate current issues in genetics and genomics. The
activity provides students with real life scenarios and information about
genomics. They analyse data, challenge their own ideas and consider how
genomics will transform healthcare and influence our lives in the future. The
activity has been developed by leading genomics research institutes the
Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute.
